A fairly decent crop of guava this year and experimenting as usual with the value-added component of the product development process, I decided to try for the first time in my life to make Guava Jelly. I consulted a number of persons and decided to give it a try. I did not make guava jelly but ended up with a fairly decent syrup that turned to gel in the refridgerator but liquified when taken out. I knew that I did not have any pectin, but I thought that there would be enough in the guava to create the jelly. I was wrong. However though I was wrong, I did not fail as there was a valuable lesson learnt, plus it was the first time.

In addition to that I was advised that it was great when mixed with barbecue sauce, so I might be on the way of developing a new product. Lots of inventions arose not from the original product being created but rather by accident, or like Thomas Edison, I understand he tried over 2000 times bedore he invented the light bulb.

The only part I don’t like about all this creation is the washing of the dishes used, but c’est le vie.
