Texting at Work

A member of management took this pic on Holy Thursday when the supermarket was very busy. This is the second pic. On taking the first pic, the flash went off and the girl looked up, kinda surprised, but continued to text. She did the same after the second text, and even after looking at me she continued. If you were the manager what would you do? Do you think she should be disciplined or is it ok for her to text while at work? It is not our intention for her to be disciplined, but after two camera shots to which she was aware of, she seemed like she didn’t care, thus this blog.

I have experienced a driver working on heavy equipment and every 15 minutes he had to stop to read a text and answer it, after observation for some time I called the supplier who called him on it. While there were various concerns regarding this activity, the primary one is the safety of the driver, This brings us to texting and driving, it is very unsafe, and an accident waiting for a place to happen. This activity should be discouraged and lives may be saved.

Lastly in the work place it is a time waster which has economic impact on the employer in terms of wages paid, and loss of productivity. texting while at work. This short blog was also posted although shortened on BimBelize Face book page and Lenetia Burgess responded.
